Collectable Single Pure-Pd Metal Membrane with High Strength and Flexibility Prepared through Electroplating for Hydrogen Purification

Among the various film preparation methods, electroplating is one of simplest and most economical methods. However, it challenging to collect a dense single Pd through plating, owing accumulation stress in during process. Therefore, characteristics plated have not been clearly identified, although pure widely used metallic-hydrogen-purification membranes. In this study, concentration was reduced by optimizing plating process, flat successfully collected. No impurities were detected. Thus, high-purity prepared. Its surface texture found be significantly different from that rolled film, several approximately 5 μm sized aggregates observed on surface. The reported mechanical properties superior those with twice displacement four times breaking point strength. hydrogen permeabilities (5.4 × 10−9–1.1 10−8 mol·m−1·s−1·Pa−1/2 at 250–450 °C) comparable films, indicating does strong effect permeability. results study promote practical use Pd-based membranes electroplating.
